Meet Jose who volunteers to revive and repair bikes to donate to children in need.
(And help him achieve this by donating $80 today)
You may have heard about our ‘bikes for kids’ donation program for disadvantaged children…
It’s only possible because of volunteers like Jose and our generous individual supporters who donate dollars and bikes to make it happen because they believe passionately that “every child deserves the joy of a bike!”
Jose has an office job by day where he spends most of his time in front of a computer screen.
After work he likes to get out, go on bike rides, play soccer with his local club … and also do some volunteer work for the community.
That’s how he ended up at Revolve ReCYCLING on Thursday evenings restoring and repairing children’s bikes which we then donate to kids in need.
“I’m really enjoying knowing that these bikes, which just weren’t being used, are going to schools and other places for kids to use, and will get so much fun out of them.
There are so many bikes just sitting in sheds not being used, or just being dumped on the streets. We can give these bikes a second life, keep them out of landfill, and give them to children who will really appreciate them
When I used to be a kid growing up in Argentina, a bike gave you so much freedom! I started riding to school in 2nd grade with my mum. But it wasn’t long before I started riding off after school with friends, having loads of fun!”
He now wants to make sure other kids, no matter what their background, can experience that same fun, and also the skills, responsibility and opportunity that go hand in hand with having a bike of one`s own.
