FAQs

What type of bikes do you collect?

We collect all adults’ and kids’ bikes in whatever condition they are. We also collect e-
bikes, scooters, e-scooters and Segway’s.

How long will it take to collect a bike?

Once you register on the website, we will be in contact within a week to organise collection. We currently have turnaround of two (2) weeks or so.

What will happen with my bike?

Nothing will be wasted. Depending on the condition of the ride, we might repair and redeploy your bike, or we might keep parts, or we might disassemble your bike and recycle the steel, aluminium, plastic or rubber and keep it out of landfill. Or, high-quality kids’ bikes go to kids who need them for free. Basically, we follow a waste minimisation hierarchy of repair, redeploy, reuse and recycle.

Can you clarify what you mean with redeploying PTVs for charity purpose?

With free bikes, we support charities that provide bikes to kids who need them for school and fun so that they can participate and contribute to their communities. That includes refugee kids, such as the kids from Ukraine that we’ve recently given free rides to, as well as a youth mentoring program in Redfern.

Can you clarify what you mean with contributing to sustainable and environmentally
conscious communities?

We engage with community and bike groups who promote cycling as part of mobility plans and creating sustainable and environmentally conscious communities.

Can you clarify what you mean with employment of disadvantaged or disabled people?

We provide employment and training in bike collection, repair and disassembly to people with disabilities or who are disadvantaged because they are refugees or “too old”.

What service do you intend to offer to bike and scooter fleet operators?

We seek to partner to assist them with the management of their bikes when they reach end-of-life so that nothing goes to landfill. We might also service their fleet so that they stay longer on the road.

What service do you intend to offer to bike shop owners?

We will seek to partner with bike shop owners to assist them with their waste minimisation and end-of-life bikes so that nothing goes to landfill. We also sell replacement parts to our bike industry mates.

What service do you intend to offer to councils and other site mangers like uni’s?

We partner with councils to assist them with diverting bikes from going to landfill and illegal dumping by organising special education and collection events.
