FAQs

What type of bikes do you collect?

We collect all adults’ and kids’ bikes in whatever condition they are. We also collect e-bikes, scooters, e-scooters, Segway’s and other personal transport vehicles (PTVs) that don’t even have names!

How long will it take to collect a bike?

Once you register on the website, we will be in contact within a week to organise collection. We currently have turnaround of two (2) weeks or so and request a donation of $5 to cover the cost.

What will happen with my bike?

Nothing will be wasted. Depending on the condition of the ride, we might repair and redeploy your bike, or we might keep parts, or we might disassemble your bike and recycle the steel, aluminium, plastic or rubber and keep it out of landfill. Or, high-quality kids’ bikes go to kids who need them for free. Basically, we follow a waste minimisation hierarchy of repair, redeploy, reuse and recycle.

Can I drop off my bike?

Can we see and try the bikes before we purchase them?

Do you deliver bikes that have been purchased?

Yes, we deliver bikes within a 25 km area around Alexandria for a flat rate of $35.

Can you clarify what you mean by redeploying bikes and scooters for charity purpose?

With free bikes, we support charities that provide bikes to kids who need them for school and fun so that they can participate and contribute to their communities. That includes refugee kids, such as the kids from Ukraine that we’ve recently given free rides to, as well as a youth mentoring program in Redfern and to remote Indigenous communities in the NT. Recently, the Revolve ReCYCLING Foundation, which is tax deductible, has been formed to extend and expand this work, including the goal of 1000 bikes for 1000 kids in 2024.

Can you clarify what you mean with contributing to sustainable and environmentally conscious communities?

We engage with community and bike groups who promote cycling as part of mobility plans and creating sustainable and environmentally conscious communities.

Can you clarify what you mean with employment of disadvantaged or disabled people?

We provide employment and training in bike collection, repair and disassembly to people with disabilities or who are disadvantaged in getting a job because they are refugees or “too old”. We call ourselves a “profit-for-purpose” organisation.

What service do you offer to bike and scooter fleet operators?

We partner to assist them with the management of their bikes when they reach end-of-life so that nothing goes to landfill. We might also service their fleet so that they stay longer on the road.

What service do you intend to offer to bike shop owners?

We partner with bike shop owners to assist them with their waste minimisation and end-of-life bikes so that nothing goes to landfill. We also sell replacement parts to our bike industry mates. As part of this, we are currently running the Green Wheels program as funded by the NSW EPA.

What service do you intend to offer to councils and other site managers like uni’s?

We partner with councils to assist them with diverting bikes from going to landfill and illegal dumping by organising special education and collection events. So far, we’ve worked with over 10 councils in the Sydney metro areas, including drop-off events and bike maintenance days.
